Our 2012 Christmas Home

Our Christmas was super sweet and simple. How was yours? Here are some pictures of our Christmas home.
The reason for the season.
This was the view from outside our home on Christmas eve. Gorgeous isn't it? We had a classic white Christmas. I cannot wait for next Christmas. One lesson I learned was that I need to start my preparation earlier. Atleast in October. I wanted to do so many more things this year. But it is okay. I am glad I could do so much. Now I am looking forward to 2013. I am so excited for the brand new year to unfold. I have so many new goals and new dreams I want to accomplish such as building a farmhouse table, an upholstered bench, making a zebra rug etc. Have a great day!

Merry Christmas from our home to yours

Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
"And this will be the sign to you: "You will find a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger."
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the Highest, And on earth, peace, goodwill toward men!" Luke 2: 9-14
I hope you have a wonderful day enjoying the blessings of Christmas with family and friends!

Gingerbread Houses

I love gingerbread houses. I have made only one gingerbread house my entire life. God-willing I will be able to make a gingerbread house in 2013. However, I love looking at them. Here are some that I think are cute that I pinned a couple of days ago. I love, love the specific shade of lavender on these houses and how well it goes with that particular green.
I think a traditional red, white and brown look cute as well. I think maybe red and white goes really, really well with deep, dark, rich chocolatey, coffeee brown. I wonder if a lighter brown would look so nice.
I love all the details in this. So amazingly intricate. And so many colors too, right? Red, white, three shades of green, light brown, dark brown, white and even some purple.
This one is also rich in detail. How adorable are the gingerbread man and woman on either side of the door. I also like that the candy canes are red, white and green.
Departing a little from the topic of gingerbread houses, here is the lavender and green combo on two trees. In the first picture I noticed the lavender and green after I saw these two trees and a write up describing them. After reading that description and seeing these two trees, I think I absolutely love the lavender and green color combination. Do you like gingerbread houses? What is your favorite color combination on gingerbread houses? Christmas blessings to you!

Today is the first day of Christmas holidays for my children. I want to accomplish some baking, and some more decorating today. Many blessings of the Christmas season to you!

Christmas Vignette

I made this Christmas vignette on a table in our family room. The table is kept next to a book shelf.
I spread a tablecloth of cream felt on the table. On the wall I hung 2 scriptures that I wrote on cardboard last year. I looked at a font in the computer to write the scriptures on the cardboard. I strung the cardboard on green ribbon and hung it. I made the felt flowers from an idea I found in BHG magazine. The red Christmas tree with feathers and pom poms was made by my now 14 year old when he was 6 or 7.
On scrapbook paper cut in the shape of a tree I wrote another scripture and cut out a star shape and stuck that on top of the tree shape. Then I stapled a stem for the tree with scrapbook paper.
I got the idea to write Luke 2:9-14 on a tree shape from pinterest. The idea to write scriptures in pretty font is from blog land. And the wreath was made by me a few hours ago with an old wreath frame and fresh greenery from my yard.
In the corner between the table and the book shelf I kept a white painted bare branch from our yard and strung it with lights and hung a couple of ball ornaments and a couple of pom-poms. I also balanced a couple of felt flowers on the bare branches.
I hope you have a nice day. I am linking up with a thoughtful place.
