Trees

Yesterday while waiting for a bus I photographed this tree. Once I read in the internet about a story in Indian mythology. In the story the ocean of milk was once churned. The devas and the asuras had a contest. The ocean of milk was churned. And what emerged was a tree. The tree that emerged was known as kalpatharu. Or wish fulfilling tree. In the residential area where my parents lived there was a custom of naming the houses. It can be a poetic name. It need not be the family name that is inherited. Not all houses had such names. Some houses had such names. My father wanted to name the house constructed by my parents kalpatharu. I did not know the meaning of kalpatharu at that time. However my parents did not end up naming the house kalpatharu. One day I was just reading in the internet some story and I came across the term kalpatharu and the story associated with it. Actually according to that story lots of things came up when the milky ocean was churned.. One thing that came up was parijatha. I remember this flower because it was in my grandfather's house. It is a white flower with fragrance. My cousin taught me that if you have eye ailments if you put the juice of this flower in your eyes your eyes will feel better. I don't remember the other things that came up. Several years ago I liked psalm 1 a lot. It talks about the person who is righteous. They are like a tree planted by a river. Everything they do will prosper. So I was really inspired by the image of the tree. I used to look at trees while going to different places. If you turn at Mormon trek to another road until you reach downtown in the middle of the road there is trees planted at regular intervals. Sitting in the car trying to understand these trees was something I tried to do if ever we were going somewhere in that road. How some trees spread their branches. Some trees point upwards. The branches of some trees are arranged in a certain shape. Some trees are shaped like a flame on a candle. One day I was looking at trees in the internet and I came across so many pictures of trees. I uploaded them into my computer. I made a table runner with the picture of trees.
