Home made coriander seeds powder
Today I made home made coriander powder.
Coriander powder is used extensively in Indian cooking.
For the longest time I have been seeing this jar of coriander seeds in the shelf.
Coriander seeds is not used as such in Indian cooking.
So I decided to make coriander seeds powder with it.
As the blender churned the seeds the small seeds became powder.
The smell of fresh ground coriander seed spread all around the house.
Incidentally I have read a reference to coriander seeds in the Bible.
In the old testament as the Israelites journeyed through the great wilderness after coming from Egypt they were given manna from heaven.
Manna is food that the Israelites got from heaven.
Each morning when the Israelites went out of their tents they saw manna.
They were supposed to gather just for that days needs.
What does manna look like?
Guess what manna looks like? Coriander seeds!.
That is what the Bible says.
I was so surprised to read this.
But since we are living in New Testament times it is ok to make coriander seeds powder.
Yesterday while travelling in the bus I had this thought that I should make the seeds into powder so we could use the seeds in cooking.
I also wanted to make the kitchen like in a fairy tale with pastel colored jars labelled neatly.
