Sarson Ka Saag
Hi all, welcome to my blog. I hope you had a lovely Monday. Yesterday I made spinach puree. While making this I was reminded of a north indian dish called Sarson ka Saag. Sarson ka saag is a dish that comes from the heartland of the north Indian state of Punjab.
It is eaten with makke ki roti.
Sarson ka saag and makke ki roti is then a very famous, popular and healthy dish in all of North India though it may have originated in Punjab.
Every time I puree spinach in our kitchen in Iowa city I remember this famed rustic hearty dish from my time in New Delhi where I learned about North Indian dishes.
Recently I heard in a podcast that in West Bengal saag or green puree is made with 14 different types of green leaves.
Sarson ka saag is made with leaves of mustard or mustard leaves.
The person who spoke of 14 different types of green leaves in the West Bengal saag had hair beyond her knees.
So maybe making saag or lots of dishes with green leafy veggies will help in hair health.
I hope I can make saag more often. I hope you have a lovely day!
