Rambling Thoughts on Cold Weather Accessories

If you have long hair and if you straighten it and if you wear a beanie it will look awesome. Also the headbands and beanies by cc beanie have the additional capability of not squishing your pony.
You can pull the pony through a slot in the beany and headband. Each brand has their own specialties. Some brands have gloves which can be used for texting.
North Face gloves with etip functionality. The gloves have some substance on the finger tips which can help you text. Why is this useful? Imagine you go somewhere in the middle of winter. It is snowing all around. You get into the car and realize you have no gas. Then you have to text your family. In such circumstances you can text without taking off your gloves. You can text in your frozen car. Ensconced in the area where cold weather accessories is displayed in the store I worked in, I have looked at heavy fur things, like scarves and such and imagined the cold weather battling traditions in the land I am in. I have imagined vast snowy fields and the situation of having to go on an errand in such a situation. What do you wear? You wear the furry things you can buy from a department store.
Nowadays in Iowa city you probably only go to the mall on a heavy snow day or you may decide to go watch a movie with your family. And then you need cold weather accessories. But in the ancient past it would not have been like that. Winter actually meant battling the elements. Over centuries starting with the native Americans they found furs of animals suited to cover themselves to beat cold. In school I had to study about the Eskimos. Eskimos live in igloos. Igloo is a house made of ice. The Eskimos belong to the Inuit tribe.
Here is a picture of an igloo. Today there is faux fur. But the ancient designs of native Americans in snow boots and slippers is still prevalent. Many design companies take inspiration from native American designs to create new fashion. The whole idea of fur trimmed hood for jackets, furry insides of boots in ugg boots is all from the past. It is so cool to understand all this. The word for cold in malayalam is thanuppu. My father says thanuvu. Growing up in a warm tropical place like kerala my father once or so told me about places in the world where there is a lot of cold. We are so lucky to be living in ernakulam, my father once said. We dont need to take any effort to protect ourselves from the weather. My father said to me once. Now I understand that there are regions in the world where it does get cold and it takes effort to remain warm. But this is only for a few months of the year. Also, there are different types of wool. One type of wool is Merino. Another type of wool is lambswool. We get to know about these things if we read the product description of the things in cold weather accessories. Btw, there are coolers with the brand name igloo. The person who decided to call the cooler they manufactured would have thought it would be cool to call it igloo after the home of the eskimos.
In school I could not wrap my mind around the fact that a home can be made of ice. Writing this reminds me of the mukluk. The very word mukluk has a native American flavor. While working in a department store there was a girl in the accounts department who used to wear mukluks with long skirts. Mukluks are the way the indigenous people of the US faced the cold. I saw pictures of boots made of sheepskin and wrapped with leather cords or belts in in the internet. I have never actually seen a human wear such boots as in boots of fur tied with leather cords. The mukluk in the picture below must be a variation of that style though.
In addition people have adapted to cold weather by making festivals such as ice festival in Wisconsin. Making snowmen is a fun way to make snowy months of the year happy.
