Today I made this Syrian Christian food item called Vattayappam. Literal translation of this word means round appam because vattom means round and appam means bread. I think I have also heard it being referred to as steamed rice cakes. I made it with rice flour, coconut, water, yeast, cardamom powder, sugar and salt. I got the recipe from a mallu food blog. I really love to make traditional syrian christian food items. Especially during Christmas and Easter. And at other times as well but more during this time.
