Organized Magazines and Newspapers

Today I organized all the magazines, newspapers, mail and books on this table in our family room. All the mail I kept in a basket under this table.
I took this picture at around 6.30 in the evening and so the picture quality is not that great. I hope I can blog again soon with good pictures. I hope you have a wonderful day!

I made these paper flowers with tissue paper, crepe paper, pipe cleaners and fabric.
It took me around four hours to make these flowers.
Here is a close-up shot of the flowers.
Have a wonderful day!

How to make branches flower before spring

Today I brought to my home some branches from the trees in our yard. I read in Better Homes and Gardens magazine that if we immerse bare branches of flowering trees in water they will bloom early inside your house even before spring.
I have sort of tried this idea before in 2010, inspired by something I read in another blog. And the branches did bloom but only around springtime.
Here are some instructions that I found in the magazine, (this month's issue-- pages 68-73), if you would like to try this idea. "Prune the cuttings from the tree on a mild, late-winter day." "Look for branches that are no more than 1/2 inch in diameter." "Submerge branches in tolerably hot tap water and recut at an angle." "Place in a bucket of water with floral preservative." "To ease the transition indoors, store in a cool, dimly lit area like a porch or garage." These are the instructions from the magazine that I followed. Only, I kept the branches in our living room and not in the garage. If you would like more detailed instructions I hope you will check out the magazine. Below I have posted pictures of different flowering branches that I photographed from the pages of the magazine.
Hope you have a wonderful day!
