Table Topics

Hi all,

I hope you had a lovely Tuesday. I attended the Toastmasters club meeting yesterday evening. I was given the role of Table Topics and I volunteered to do Thought since there was a vacancy. I have already posted what I said in Thought on January 8. I started writing it as a speech but said it as a Thought yesterday. Here are the Table Topics questions I asked.

1. What method do you follow while reading newspapers? Different people follow different ways of reading the newspaper. I read the editorials first. In WSJ the opinion page is the page facing the editorial so I read at least one opinion article. Then I read the front page. Then I read the World News and then I read the business section. My father reads the front page first. My younger brother reads the sports page first. There may be others who read the business page first. How do you read the newspaper?

2. How do you follow a developing story? There are many news that are continuing to unfold. Such as the Israel Hamas ceasefire deal. New developments are taking place every day. How do you keep yourselves knowledgeable about the latest developments in such a news story?

These are the two questions I asked. I prepared two more questions but did not get to ask.

3.What is a song, book, quote, or personality in news that was inspiring to you this year or last year? Something that made you want to listen several times or read, watch or think about several times.

4.What are your New Years resolutions for 2025? What ideas do you have to stick to the resolutions?
