Christmas Lanterns

I don't know the difference between a hurricane lamp and a lantern. If you are living in a place where there are no street lights then it is a good idea to carry a lantern when you are going outside. This is the lifestyle of yore before flashlights or torches or phones. While growing up in India there were frequent "power cuts" and there would be no lights or fan for an hour or so during the day. If the electricity goes off then we can light candles or use a hurricane lamp. I would find hurricane lamps in my parents home in the kitchen or the work area which is an area behind the kitchen. In malayalam movies especially art movies some times suspense is depicted by showing a dark street and then a lantern dangling from a person's hand casting a dim light to the surroundings. Now lanterns are decorative and have very slight practical purpose. In Hobby Lobby and Kohls you can find lots of decorative Christmas lanterns. Imagine walking down the street during Christmas, would it not be cool to have lanterns in your front porch.
